In the early morning, at the Dounan Flower Market in Kunming, Yunnan, a batch of newly cultivated flower seedlings were placed in a specially designed constant temperature box, and they were about to embark on a journey across national borders. At the end of this journey, Fu Zhaotian is preparing for the arrival of this batch of seedlings at a flower planting base in Mandalay, Myanmar.
Fu Zhaotian is the buyer of this batch of flower seedlings, and this year is his eleventh year engaged in fresh cut flower trade in Southeast Asia.
At the beginning, Fu Zhaotian was just one of the many flower merchants in China, doing low-cost business in port cities like Ruili in Yunnan, selling flowers to residents on the other side of the border through border trade. "At that time, we were working with a group of people and didn't understand the tricks involved. We were just doing the same thing as all the flower vendors in the market. If someone was willing to buy, we could negotiate the price appropriately and make a deal," said Fu Zhaotian.
